Thanks for a great semester class!

A big thank you to everyone for such a productive and successful semester. I'll post grades by the end of the week. Here are the best of our class portraits, the composed ones were out of focus unfortunately. Keep making art! (And special thanks to Jenan. Love my new palette!)

Final critiques begin

See you tomorrow at 11am sharp for Advanced Critiques and Beginning/Intermediate Critique of Two or More Heads.

Be ready to answer:

1. Looking back on the semester what do you think you learned in terms of your work (technique, content, skills) that was a success and what can you still push yourself to do better? Be thoughtful and self critical.

2. Please think of an example of at least 2 people in the class that grew in their work/skills or did something differently than you might have in relation to a project this semester. Think of clear examples that help that person to realize what they did and why it was interesting and well done.

Tip Toland sculpting a bust

Beginning Students:
Remember while you are not hollowing out, you must release any trapped air with a pinhole. Leather hard is the best stage to carve details and while you want to keep your head from drying out do not over hydrate. If you see water on the surface or moisture building it's too wet and may weaken or collapse the form. A damp paper towel (wring out all water) or just wrapping in enough plastic usually works well. Remember to only use 04 Lowfire Slip and Engobe.
Get started on details and have fun!
